Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 Live Updates: Union Minister Amit Shah on Friday said Maharashtra polls will decide whether the state follows the path of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Veer Savarkar or the path of Aurangzeb. “The BJP-led Mahayuti has chosen the path of Shivaji Maharaj and Veer Savarkar, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi people are the Aurangzeb fan club,” he said, addressing a rally at Hingoli ahead of the November 20 state assembly elections. Shah also challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to speak “two good words” about Veer Savarkar and Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. “Uddhav ji, if you have the courage, get Rahul Baba to speak two good words about Veer Savarkar and Balasaheb,” Shah said, as quoted by PTI. Addressing another rally at Umarkhed in Yavatmal district, Shah said that PM Modi will amend the Waqf Act despite opposition from leaders like Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar. “Modi ji wants to change the Waqf Board law, but Uddhav ji, Sharad Pawar, and Supriya Sule are opposing it,” Shah said. “Uddhav ji, listen carefully, you all can protest as much as you want, but Modi ji will amend the Waqf Act,” he added, news agency PTI reported. With merely five more days ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders have intensified their campaigns in the state. NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar has slammed the Maharashtra government saying schemes like Ladki Bahin Yojana are being implemented but the Mahayuti government does nothing about the continuous rise in crimes against women. “This is happening in Maharashtra, the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Phule, Savitribai Phule and Jijamata. Under the BJP-led government, five complaints are being filed every hour related to crimes against women. The Maharashtra government has reported that 64,000 women and girls are currently missing,” he said.
